A nationwide poll conducted in and around independent coffee shops has revealed that this summer’s number one hipster must-have is an asian girl riding a bicycle.

The poll, conducted by a mainstream mens magazine and aimed at men with ironic moustaches, was designed to discover the evolving preferences of the hipster community.

An Asian girl on a bike was a surprise winner in the poll of favourite accessories for this summer, beating out lobster burritos, shoes made from completely un-treated cow hide, and capes.

Simon Gates, whose media agency conducted the poll suggested that the results showed an ever-increasing desire for hipsters to push boundaries when it comes to their appearance.

Gates said, “By having an Asian girl on a bike as part of your negligee you are telling the world that you transcend the limits that other men place on themselves. That your independence means that you can carry not only another full human being as an accessory, but one of an ethnic origin who can ride a non-motorized vehicle.”

One pollster told us that he already had a collection of four different Asian girls that he liked to pair with different bikes depending on the day. He said, “Often during the week i’ll wear my Chinese girl on a fixed-gear Cinelli to work as she her small size means she easily fit beneath my desk, but at the weekends i like to pair my North Korean with a trike for extra credibility and a certain edge.”

Another explained why the Asian girl on a bike was fast becoming the defining accessory of the hipster community; “An Asian girl on a bike generally compliments the rest of the hipster look. Their small size is perfect for making my skinny-jean confined legs look less childlike, while their sharp features and clean lines offset my unwashed, faux-woodsman appearance.”

However even as the poll results were revealed, some in the hipster community are already moving onto more extreme accessory choices, by carrying around an Indian girl on roller blades or an Eastern European girl on a rowing boat.
